We know how to build the same widget a billion times over!  We know how to do very large stuff really well.  We have masters economics of Scale.  What we need to learn to do now is the opposite of scaling up; we need to learn to scale down!

Dell started it in the 70’s when he allowed people to customize their PCs.  It spawned a new term called, “Mass Customization.”  It allows us to focus on the “Individual.”  Lives are singular!  For processes and institutions, particularly educational institutions, to truly matter in personal human terms, they must go beyond mass production to singular production.  They most focus on the individual, on the singular life; not the crowd or the masses.
